Baa Atoll - South Maalhosmadulu
Baa Atoll is comprised of two geographical atoll; Goidhoo Atoll to the South - a small atoll, with four fishing villages, and Baa Atoll proper to the north. click to enlargeBaa Atoll has newly been opened up for tourism and until recently only one resort island has operated in the Atoll. 'Goidhoo Outside' is so beautiful that you would want to stay there for the rest of your holidays. The red coral and the clear waters make this site truly unique. However, if you move on to the north you will find that there are many other sites equally exciting, totally intact and undisturbed by divers, except for an occasional visit. 'Maaddoo Giri', 'Horubadhoo Thila', 'Dhonfan Thila', and 'Baiypolhi Mas' are just some.

A particularly exciting dive is at 'Baiypolhi Mas', among thousands of batfish that inhabit this site. Sometimes you will find yourself surrounded by them. The atoll has numerous uninhabited islands, each more beautiful than the other - Viyafushi is just one. When the boat moors for the night you will be able to get off to the island and walk around the pristine white beaches that fringe the island. You can watch the magnificent sunset from the beach as the crew prepares a barbecue for dinner.
